Privacy Policy
Effective: 2 October 2026. Applies to the Dashtone iOS app and its widgets, published by Stackframe Studios Private Limited ("we").
The short version
Everything you create in the app stays on your iPhone. We don't collect data from you: no account, no analytics or tracking tools, nothing sold. We don't track you across apps or websites.
What stays on your device
- Your sounds and settings: which sound plays for each moment, your sound preferences, and the time a sound last played (used for the in-app self-test and the Sound Status widget).
- Photos you add to widgets: you choose them with the system photo picker. We save a small resized copy in the app's storage on your iPhone so the widget can show it. We never upload them. If you choose a Favorites or Random photo widget, the app (with your permission) picks a few photos from your library on your iPhone, about once a day, and keeps small copies the same way.
- Audio you import or create: clips you trim from your files and AI voice greetings. Greetings are generated on your iPhone with Apple's built-in voices; the text you type isn't sent anywhere.
- Diagnostics: if the app crashes, Apple's MetricKit may hand the app an anonymous crash report, which is stored on your iPhone. We only see it if you choose to send it to us, for example in a support email.
Analytics
The app contains no analytics or tracking tools. We see only the aggregate numbers Apple provides to every developer (downloads, sessions, subscriptions), and only from people who chose to share them with developers in their iPhone settings.
Lyrics and Listen mode
- Apple Music mode reads the song that's playing in the Music app on your iPhone (with your permission) to show its lyrics.
- Listen mode uses the microphone, only while it's on, to recognise the song with Apple's ShazamKit. Audio isn't recorded or saved; ShazamKit sends Apple a short audio fingerprint, under Apple's privacy policy. If the iPhone locks while Apple Music mode is running and you've allowed the microphone, Listen mode takes over until you open the app again.
- To fetch lyrics, the song's title, artist and duration are sent to our lyrics provider. Nothing about you is sent.
Drive times
When your CarPlay automations run, the app notes when CarPlay connected and disconnected, on your iPhone only, to show the Parked and Drive stats widgets. It keeps the last few hundred entries and never sends them anywhere.
Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple. We receive confirmation that a purchase is active so we can unlock Pro features. We don't receive your name, email or payment details.
Advertising attribution
If you install the app from an ad, Apple's AdAttributionKit may tell the advertiser, in aggregate and without identifying you, how far installs from that ad got (for example "started a trial"). This uses Apple's privacy-preserving system. It doesn't identify you and requires no tracking permission.
Permissions
- Notifications: only if you start a free trial, so we can remind you before it ends.
- Photos and files: the items you pick through Apple's pickers, or, only if you choose a Favorites/Random photo widget, read access to your library to pick photos on the device.
- Microphone: to record your own sounds, and for Listen mode as described above.
- Calendar: only if you add a Next up widget, to show your next event. Read on your iPhone; never sent to us.
- Location: only if you add a Weather or Sunrise & sunset widget. Sunrise and sunset are calculated on your iPhone. For Weather, your approximate location is sent to Apple Weather (WeatherKit) to get the forecast, under Apple's privacy policy; we don't receive it.
- Apple Music: only to read the song that's playing, for lyrics.
Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we'll update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version ships.
